Asterisk

Asterisk is a software implementation of a telephone private branch exchange (PBX); it was created in 1999 by Mark Spencer of Digium. It allows attached telephones to make calls to one another, and to connect to other telephone services, such as the public switched telephone network (PSTN) and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services. Its name comes from the asterisk symbol, *.

I use a distro called FreePBX on a Raspberry-pi B+.

I use (POTS) Plain Old Telephone System, analog phones and IP phones on my system. Each caller can choose from a menu to reach the extension of the person they want to talk to. Each extension is also an intercom that can use an IR menu and has the ability to use voice commands to choose the menu item. I use Google voice for this feature. Each phone can use the following menu.

dial

iNum

Do you have your iNum? iNum is a global area code for IP Communications services. Traditional phone numbers are tied to a particular country, or even a particular city, so when you move to another country you need to get a new number from a new supplier. iNum numbers however do not have this limitation and you can therefore keep your iNum wherever you go in the world.

Obihai

Transform the Way You Communicate with OBi
The people at Obihai are re-inventing the telephone at a personal level. "OBi" products come in the form of powerful Internet connected devices and applications configured for optimum savings and absolute convenience.

I use the Obi110 and the Obi210. Easy, Cheap and Incredible! This is the best investment I've made in years - couldn't be happier! What Obihai's OBi110 does, unlike many other VoIP devices, is bridge together all those services. You bring your own provider and use the Obi to bridge all the services together. I can use my old analog phone and my new ip phone. Many features with these products. One of the best is using the Bluetooth adapter to tie my cell phone to my home system.
